One In Ten Landlords Want To Buy

2010 is off to a great start for property investors looking to get back on the property ladder. According to research by popular investment company Paragon Mortgages, 1 in 10 property investors want to add a residential property investment to their property portfolio in the next 12 months.

Top to hit their investment list was terraced properties…

Of the thousands of landlords surveyed, 65% revealed that they were specifically looking to buy a terraced property following studies which found that not only did tenants prefer them, but they felt they were better constructed too.

Similarly, Paragon discovered that:

  • 25% were interested in buying semi-detaches
  • 20% were interesting in investing in flats
  • 10% were looking to add a detached property to their portfolio
  • And this increased interest from landlords is proving to be very beneficial to homeowners looking to switch onto the rental market.

Research by Halifax indicates that between 1991 and 2008, people choosing to rent across the UK has risen from 9% to 14% - a 5% increase which does not even take into account the boom of 2009.

Discussing these figures, Paragon’s Managing Director John Heron feels strong tenant demands and affordable property prices has prompted landlords back onto the market. With such ideal property investment circumstances to contend with, now is truly the time to expand your property portfolio.
