Property Owners Want Bigger Properties

A study by the National Association of Estates Agents has made some startling revelations about why property owners want to move home.

Citing that the reason 78% of property owners want to move home is because of a desire to own a bigger and better property; this survey of over 1,000 estate agents is a testament to the fact that confidence in the property market is growing.

Just 12 months ago demand for smaller properties such as flats dramatically increased after many property owners found they were unable to raise the finance to afford bigger 4 bedroom detached properties.

Yet this recent switch in focus seems to suggest that the UK property market is finally emerging out of the economic downtown bringing with it increased mortgage availability…

Other reasons property owners attributed as their reasons for wanting to sell included:

  • Getting a divorce – 58%
  • Getting a new job - 27%
  • Forced to sell due to debt - 41%
  • Buying/selling property due to a family death -39%
