Busiest moving day of the year

New research by the UK’s largest database of home movers, the busiest day to move home is the 1st September…

This is caused by children going back to school and owners wanting to settle in before winter, hundreds of home owners every year choose to move on this day.

Yet are they ready? No, it would seem…

Moving may be the most stressful things you’ll do and this may be due to some of us are too unprepared for the move itself.

A survey by the Post Office found…

• 42% of owners cancel bills less than a week in advance, 2 weeks re recommended.
• 28% notify their bank of their new address less than a week before their moving date.

Despite being poorly prepared, we seem to be prepared when it comes to decorating our new property investment:

• 26% of property owners buy new furniture before they move.
• 15% of property owners plan how they want to decorate it more than a month before they move.

If you are planning to move on or around the 1st September, use this guide to help you:

1. Keep an inventory of all your boxes and what they contain.
2. Give your utility suppliers (phone, broadband, electricity, gas etc) a month’s notice.
3. Make one box your important box with food, drink, tools etc for ease on arrival.
